Trial By Error: My Talk in Newry, Northern Ireland

By David Tuller, DrPH

Last Tuesday, November 5th, I spoke in Newry, Northern Ireland, about that research study from Bristol University with a 3000-word “correction/clarification” now appended to it. The talk was called “The Lightning Process Trial: A Saga of Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Research–and Even Worse Editorial Decisions.” The name comes from a well-known kids’ book, “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.”

Midway through this talk, I mentioned anecdotal accounts of post-LP crashes, including suicide. While I have read and heard anecdotal accounts of attempted suicide, I should not have included (completed) suicide. This version has been edited to remove the reference to suicide, including on the accompanying slide. I apologize for the error.

This video also has some general sound issues. (These issues are outside my domain of responsibility, but sorry about them anyway.)

Oh, and I ironed my shirt beforehand!!

Thanks for all you do to expose this area of really bad science and medicine. You certainly go the extra mile!

“Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”. Not heard of that book..but it sure goes a long way to describing every day living with ME.

    I second CT’s thanks.
